4 Books That EVERY Business Owner Must Read!
As a small business owner, reading and keeping up to date with new marketing and business innovations is critical to making your business thrive. Business guides, whether in video, article or book form, show what is happening within the world of your particular market and details what is working, what isn’t, and what new ideas and tactics business owners are using. Every type of business sector has these forms of literature which help aid newcomers and seasoned vets alike. I like to get many of my tips and tricks from books, because I love reading and listening to audiobooks. I’ve read many different marketing and business related books recently and I thought I would share with you my 4 most helpful books that helped build my business this past year!
Influence (The Psychology of Persuasion) by Robert Cialdini
I first read this book for a psychology class in college and I have now read at least 3 times. This book highlights the 6 principles of persuasion and there is a reason why his book is so widely praised. The 6 principles of persuasions that Cialdini highlights are reciprocity, consistency, social proof, liking, authority, and scarcity. When integrating these principles within your business, they can help increase traction to your site and store!
The Copywriter’s Handbook (A Step-by-step Guide to Writing Copy that Sells): Robert Bly
This was one of the first books I read when I was becoming a copywriter by the recommendation of copywriter Terry Schilling (@terry_schilling on insta). This book shouldn’t be read by only copywriters, but business owners, marketing agencies and anyone who wants their business website and ads to gain traction. This book is easy to read and lays out very informational points throughout the entire book and should be read by anyone who owns a business who wants to market themselves.
This is Marketing by Seth Godin
This is Marketing by Seth Godin is the quintessential book on marketing. Seth has been in the game for years and knows all the secrets that make effective and captivating marketing. A few of the things that Seth highlights throughout the book is permission marketing, telling stories, and engaging with the customer. This is a pretty quick read so I recommend you pick this up ASAP if you want to learn from the best in the business
Everybody Writes (Your Go-To Guide to Creating Ridiculously Good Content) by Ann Handley
Everybody Writes is a great book for EVERYONE in business because this book discusses attracting and retaining customers through online engagement. If you post content regularly to attract clients and followers, this is the book for you! Better yet, this book includes a go-to guide to creating and publishing the kind of content that will make your business thrive.
My goal for all of you is to get the most information you can out of these books! I love to take notes both in and out of the book, that way I can instill that knowledge the book gives me and apply it to my business. These books have easily been the most helpful in establishing my business and I hope they help you too! If you like this type of post let me know because I love writing whatever everyone likes to see!
